The schooner CAROLINA

The centerpiece of Carolina Coastal Classrooms programs will be the educational curriculum taught on board a reproduction of a classic 19th-century sailing vessel. The schooner CAROLINA will be stationed in New Bern, North Carolina and will offer daily and extended shipboard education programs throughout the year. Schooner CAROLINA will be based on traditional designs of the working vessels that plied the waters of North Carolina in the 1800's, yet built using modern construction techniques to minimize maintenance and vessel "down time". Conceptual drawings of the vessel have been completed by Scarano Boat Building of Albany, New York.
